Artificial intelligence might replace 300 million jobs

The latest breakthroughs in artificial intelligence, particularly in generative AI, are causing concerns among people about the possibility of various jobs being eliminated. According to a Goldman Sachs analysis, up to 300 million jobs could be impacted by generative AI, which could substitute up to one-fourth of current work. However, the paper also suggests that a productivity boom and new jobs could result from technological advancement, which could ultimately increase global GDP by up to 7%. The impact of generative AI on employment will vary between sectors, with administrative and legal sectors being the most at risk, while cleaning and maintenance, installation and repair, and construction vocations have the least exposure to AI.
