AMMAN: A car bomb has caused massive explosions in the Mezzah suburb west of the Syrian capital Damascus, Syrian media reported on Sunday.
Police sources cited by state media said the improvised explosive device (IED) caused no injuries.
Locals said earlier that large explosions were heard near Mezzah military airport, with a plume of black smoke rising high in the air.
The blast happened near a busy roundabout near a busy restaurant, a witness said.
It was unclear if anyone was the target of a rare explosion in an affluent neighborhood where senior government and security officials live.
In the early years of the 12-year conflict, the capital was bombed frequently, but after the state regained control of much of the country, these attacks have been reduced in recent years.
