Royal family gears up for coronation preparations

Preparations for the coronation of King Charles III. are in full swing ahead of the big bank holiday weekend across the UK. 

 

 King Charles and his wife, Queen Consort Camilla, have returned from Germany for their first state visit since ascending the throne. 

 

 The 74-year-old's first foreign trip as monarch was due to start with a visit to France but  was postponed amid civil unrest in the country as workers protested the raising of the retirement age. 

 

 The  new British King's historic trip to Germany was hailed as a success when he became the first monarch to address the German  Bundestag. 

 

 Arrived as the royal family prepares for the coronation as Charles and Camilla are due to be officially crowned in May. 

 

 The groundbreaking event takes place on Saturday 6th May, with Brits having Monday 8th May off to continue the celebrations.The coronation concert will take place on Sunday, May 7th, at which icons of world music and stars of the present will perform. 

 

 “The Coronation Ceremony takes place at Westminster Abbey in London and is presided over by the Archbishop of Canterbury. He will reflect the  role of monarch today and look to the future while being rooted in long-standing traditions and glory,” Buckingham Palace said on 2 June 1953, aged 27.
